DOG LICENCE

How much is a Dog Licence?

From 3 October 2011 a basic dog licence fee has increased from £5.00 to £12.50.

However, if you meet certain criteria you may qualify for a reduced rate:

  1. If you are over 65 and only have one dog you are entitled to ONE FREE licence - However you must still apply for a licence.
  2. If you are over 65 and have already claimed a free licence each additional licence will cost £5.00
  3. If you are in receipt of Income Support or Housing Benefit a licence will cost £5.00
  4. If your dog has been sterilised your licence will cost £5.00
  5. Those persons entitled to a Block Licence will pay £32.00

Ensure that your dog is microchipped

From March 2012 Council will not be able to issue a dog licence unless that dog has been microchipped.  Local Vets are offering a free microchipping service until 31 March 2012.  Contact your Vet to avail of this offer.
