What do I do if I feel the Council has not supplied me with the information I requested under the Freedom of Information Act?
The Freedom of Information Act contains a range of exemptions and the Council may decide to apply an exemption or exemptions in relation to some requests for access to information. It may also be the case that the Council does not hold the information that has been requested or that it has taken longer than 20 working days to deal with the request.
If an applicant is not satisfied with the response they have received to their request for access to information they can ask for the matter to be reviewed by the Council.
In order to have this review carried out the request or complaint should be put in writing to the Chief Executive of Limavady Borough Council, 7 Connell Street, Limavady, BT49 OHA. He will carry out an investigation into how the matter was dealt with by Council Officers and wil respond directly to the applicant when he has completed his investigation.
If the applicant is still not satisfied with the Council's they have the option of approaching the Information Commissioner in writing and asking the Commissioner to investigate how their request was dealt with. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at:
