Neighbourhood Renewal in Limavady

Home » Living » Neighbourhood Renewal

In June 2003, Government launched its “People and Place – A strategy for Neighbourhood Renewal”.  The strategy seeks to target those communities throughout Northern Ireland who are suffering the highest levels of deprivation.  It is also about bringing together the work of all Government Departments in partnership with local people to tackle disadvantage and deprivation in all aspects of everyday life.

A key element for the strategy is the establishment of Neighbourhood Partnerships in each Neighbourhood Renewal area as a vehicle for local planning and implementation.

The top 10% of deprived neighbourhoods across Northern Ireland has been identified using the New Noble Multiple Deprivation Measure.  In Limavady, the Coolessan ward is the target area for Neighbourhood Renewal.

The chair is currently held by Catherine Farrimond, and the Partnership is serviced by Ursula McCreesh (ursula.mccreesh@limavady.gov.uk).
