It is no longer acceptable to dispose of our rubbish into a landfill site. There is no more space left in the ground and therefore it is essential that we find other ways of reducing, reusing and recycling the waste that we produce.
By recycling a waste material you are essentially helping to create a new product for someone else. For example, plastic bottles can be used to make clothing such as fleeces, and aluminium cans are being melted down and used within the car manufacturing industry. Therefore, recycling not only makes good environmental sense, but it also benefits local and global communities both economically and socially by creating new jobs and opening new commercial markets.
We should all try and purchase items made from recycled material. Items such as recycled paper are no longer expensive and over the years have become more affordable. Buying recycled products strengthens the markets and increases the demand for recyclable materials from local authorities across the UK.
By working together we can all help to reduce, reuse and recycle our waste.
