Kite sports are increasing in popularity and Benone Strand has become one of the most outstanding locations for kiting in Northern Ireland.

Whether you want to kite buggy, kite surf or simply fly for fun, kite sports take place all year round but are best with an onshore northerly breeze. This exciting sport is an enjoyable sight for spectators as well as thrilling for participants.

The Irish Power Kite and Sandyacht Association holds the winter series race series for kite buggies at Benone as well as the Irish leg of the Celtic Challenge, a race between Scottish & Irish kiters as well as other kite based events.
