The Bishop’s Road provides one of the most spectacular trips on the north coast and is a worthwhile diversion off the Causeway Coastal Route linking Downhill and Limavady.  The Bishops Road, which received its name as it was originally built by the Bishop of Derry, Earl Frederick Hervey, leads to Gortmore viewing point where you can picnic and enjoy the view over Magilligan, Lough Foyle and the North Coast. This is believed to be the preferred route of the Bishop when travelling from Derry to his property at Downhill. On a clear day, views extend to Donegal and the islands of Islay and Jura off the west coast of Scotland.
