The market town of Dungiven (meaning Given's Fort) lies nine miles south of Limavady near the foot of Benbradagh mountain. Originally the seat of the O'Cahan Clan, Dungiven Castle has been restored and refurbished and provides a four star guest house and restaurant in the town. Dungiven Priory, overlooking a 200ft precipice on the River Roe, was founded in 1100AD and contains the tomb of Cooey-na-Gall, an ancient Chieftan of the O'Cahan clan. Dungiven Community Hall and Sports Pavilion provides local residents and tourist with excellent sporting and recreational facilities. On the direct route from Derry to Belfast, Dungiven provides visitors with a range of locally owned shops and brand name stores on its Main Street.
'Dungiven home of 'Eoghan Quigg' of X-Factor fame, Eoghan at only 16 years of age made it through to the final of the X-Factor final for 2008. Also home of Paul McCloskey who won the British Light Welterwight Title in December 2008.'
