Working in Limavady

Limavady Borough Council has been helping rural business for many years and continues to support indigenous SMEs through a continuing economic programme that operates within a business-friendly infrastructure.

Textiles agriculture and locally-important industries, have suffered over the past few years from international pressures. It’s important that fledgling businesses in Limavady are supported in material ways that can help them face these challenges and grow their businesses.

If you are interested in finding out more about the area, a short PDF document is provided on the right hand side of this page. Please contact Paul Beattie should you require further information.

The workplan for 2010-2011 can also be found on the right hand side of this page.

(Please note that under EU legislation, Council cannot directly support individual businesses through direct grant aid.)

This section of the website includes links to a range of current programmes and initiatives open to business from Council and other external funders. You can find out more here and here.

Take part in our Business eZine.

We use a database of email addresses of local businesses to keep them informed of new programmes, grants or services which are available.

The database is stand-alone, not used for 3rd party marketing purposes, and remains private and confidential at all times. If you want to receive this occasional eZine, email paul.beattie@limavady.gov.uk.

The Area

Derry City Airport is only twelve miles away, and the drive to either airport in Belfast takes less then an hour and a half. For its 32,000 citizens, higher education is at a premium, with University of Ulster campuses and Colleges of Further & Higher Education both in Limavady and in nearby Coleraine and Londonderry.

Limavady used to have one of the lowest number of business starts; now it has one of the highest.

Limavady Borough Council has also funded a range of programmes which directly benefit small businesses in the area, such as the Trade Development Programme. This and other programmes have helped SMEs in the area to look at how they do business now and how they can do it better in the future. New Programmes will be announced either through this website or via the local press.

This website contains information on a range of business hints and tips, as well as other sections of interest to business. Please browse for further information or get in touch with paul.beattie@limavady.gov.uk.
