Limavady Borough Council has made a significant contribution to local economic development. Throughout the past decade, council has maintained and expanded a programme of support and mentoring for small businesses.
A primary role of our Development team is to attract funding from a number of national and European sources for business assistance. However the council is involved in further activities on a daily basis to provide support to local businesses. These activities include amongst others:
This rapport between council and business has the potential to be further capitalised on. We actively encourage all members of businesses in the borough to collaborate with council, and with other local businesses to help create a more dynamic and cross-promotional local economy.
The efforts of the council have become even more critical in recent years due to the national and global economic downturn. Textiles, agriculture and locally-important industries have suffered over the past few years from international pressures. It’s important that fledgling businesses in Limavady are supported in material ways that can help them face these challenges and grow their businesses.
Despite the difficulties related with the economy and business start-ups Limavady Borugh has numerous examples of small businesses that have shown excellent potential and performance in the past few years.
