Project Ideas for the Rural Development Programme

As this programme has only started, there are no projects in receipt of funding yet. Prior to the Rural Development Programme, the LEADER+ programme was a very successful programme aimed at micro enterprises in the rural area.

LEADER+ finished in 2007, however, it left behind a legacy of successful projects and entrepreneurs across the whole borough. Some examples are below.

This programme, however, isn't LEADER+. Innovation and creativity will be key to a successful project. That means thinking outside the box. If you are already in business consider the following:

Can you think of how you can improve how you do things by introducing new technology into your business?

Can you think of a new business idea or market that you can diversify into?

Can you spot a need/ gap in the local market, which isn't being catered for?

For example, Limavady Borough is pushing hard to be an activities tourism destination. Are there ways in which a tourism provider can tap into this? Are there activities which could have a market, but which no-one is supplying equipment? Do you need assistance in marketing a new activity?

Do you supply a service to the construction trade? Are there better ways of doing it? Could you use new innovative technology to supply that service? Are there new markets into which you'd like to move? How do you want to that, and could the Rural Development Programme help?

Is there a completely new business you'd like to research? Have you been through the Start a Business Programme? Are there other sources of funding which your local enterprise agency could help you with?
